About Wavemail
What is Wavemail?

Wavemail is an email service for people whose email provider has stopped offering email. When a service provider shuts down their email service, we step in to keep your address alive — so you don't have to scramble to migrate everything to Gmail or Outlook.

Wavemail is built on email infrastructure that has powered messaging for major service providers around the world for over 25 years.

Who is Wavemail for?

Anyone whose email provider has decided to exit the email business. We work with multiple service providers around the country and continue to add more. If your provider has notified you that your email is moving to Wavemail, this service is for you.

Who is behind Wavemail?

Wavemail is built and operated by Openwave, a company with over 25 years of experience powering email infrastructure for major providers around the world. We've kept over 300 million inboxes running reliably and securely. Wavemail is our direct-to-consumer product, the same infrastructure, now available to you directly.

What email address will I use?

You keep your existing email address — exactly as it is. Nothing changes. If you used yourname@yourprovider.com, you'll continue to use yourname@yourprovider.com. Wavemail is simply the new home for that inbox.

Getting started
How do I set up Wavemail?

If your provider has already made the switch to Wavemail, you may already have access — just go to app.wavemail.app and sign in with your existing email and password. If you're moving on your own, sign up at wavemail.app and follow the short setup guide.

Will my old emails still be there?

Yes. All your existing messages, folders, contacts, and calendar entries move with you. Nothing gets deleted. The transition is designed to be invisible — you pick up exactly where you left off.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes — Wavemail has native apps for iOS and Android, included in every plan. They're designed to be fast, clean, and just as capable as the web version. You can also use any email client that supports IMAP (Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, etc.).

Can I use my existing email app (Outlook, Apple Mail)?

Yes. Wavemail supports standard POP and IMAP protocols, so it works with any email client you already use. Just update your server settings and you're ready to go.

Pricing & billing
How much does Wavemail cost?

Standard is $2/month (or $20/year). It includes your existing address, ad-free inbox, 1 GB storage, iOS & Android apps, spam & virus protection, AI Threat Protection, two-factor authentication, and phone & chat support.

Premium is $6/month (or $50/year) and adds 5 GB mailbox storage, 100 GB Wavemail Drive, AI-enabled features (Smart Reply, Translation, Smart Summaries), Hugemail for large attachments, smart mailbox categorization, and priority support.

Both plans start with a free 2-month trial that includes every Premium feature.

What's included in the free trial?

Your free trial includes the full Premium experience — every feature, every AI tool, maximum storage — for two months. No credit card required to start.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. Cancel any time from your account settings — no penalties, no fees, no awkward phone calls. Your access continues until the end of your billing period.

What happens if I don't choose a plan after the trial?

After the free trial ends, your account is paused. Your emails and data are kept safe for 30 days, giving you time to choose a plan or export your data. After 30 days, the account is permanently deleted.

Privacy & security
Does Wavemail read my emails?

No. We never scan your email content for advertising, never build behavioral profiles, and never sell your data.

Is my email secure?

Yes. Wavemail uses industry-standard TLS encryption for all messages in transit, modern key management for stored messages, and supports two-factor authentication on every account. We also layer enterprise-grade threat protection and our own AI Threat Protection to keep scams, phishing, and malware out of your inbox.

Do you show ads?

Never. No banner ads, no "sponsored" messages disguised as emails, no tracking pixels. Wavemail is funded entirely by subscriptions — so we only succeed if you're happy.

Features
What are Wavemail's AI-enabled features?

Wavemail's AI-enabled features are a set of optional tools included in Premium that help you spend less time on email:

Smart Reply reads the email you're replying to and suggests a thoughtful, natural-sounding response. Adjust the tone or length with one click, formal, casual, shorter, you stay in control.
Translation translates any email with one click and lets you reply in your own language, with the original and translated versions shown side by side.
Smart Summaries pulls the important bits out of a long message and drops them right at the top, so you can act fast and move on.

All AI features are private, your messages are never used to train models or shared with third parties.

What is Wavemail Drive?

Wavemail Drive is 100 GB of cloud storage included with Premium. Use it to store files, photos, and backups — all accessible from your Wavemail account on any device.

What is Hugemail?

Hugemail lets Premium users send large files directly from their inbox — even files that would normally be too big to attach. Recipients get a secure download link instead of a bounced message.

We're real people. We'll get back to you.

Still have questions? Our support team responds to every message — usually within one business day. No bots, no runaround.
